I've always liked to look at playoff rosters and find former Rangers playing in October. Hey, it gave me something to do while my team sat at home. This year, of course, there's a team of 25 Rangers still alive, so it's a different task this time around. Here's a list of ex-Rangers on the other playoff rosters:
Cincinnati Reds:
Francisco Cordero
Nick Masset
Laynce Nix
Edinson Volquez
Atlanta Braves:
none
Minnesota Twins:
none
New York Yankees:
Alex Rodriguez
Mark Teixeira
Marcus Thames
Greg Golson
Philadelphia Phillies:
none
San Francisco Giants:
Andres Torres (he might not have ever been on the team, but I remember watching him in Spring Training games)
Tampa Bay Rays:
Joaquin Benoit
Carlos Pena
It's rare to have 3 full teams with no ex-Rangers in the playoffs. As long as I have paid attention to it, they have usually been sprinkled around almost every team. I guess we've got more guys worth hanging on to this year and didn't trade them off to contenders, like in seasons past.
I'm not sure that'll be interesting to anyone else, but hey, it's my blog.
