Like I said, Rangers in Six. ;)
For some reason I felt really confident going into tonight's game, even though I still had the butterflies that have plagued me all month. With the weather supposed to be really bad tomorrow night, the Rangers needed to nail this one down tonight. Any delay would have hindered the Cliff Lee advantage.
No need to worry, says Colby Lewis. Eight innings, three hits, only the one disputed run, and seven strikeouts. Pretty dang good from a guy coming off of two seasons in Japan.
Joe Girardi wanted nothing to do with Josh Hamilton tonight, and it might have cost him the game. He intentionally walked him with a man on second (who moved to third on a wild pitch) his second time up, and Vladdy popped out. The next time they were in the same situation, but with a man on third and two out, after the Yankees had just tied the score, Josh was walked again, but this time Vlad made him pay. His patented line drive over the centerfielder broke the game open, and then Nellie Cruz's homer put some more breathing room between the teams.
There were some awesome defesive plays as well. Elvis robbed A-Rod of a lead of hit in the gap by leaping to catch a liner in the second. Later in the game, after Granderson had walked for the second time, Cano slammed one to Kinsler's left, which he snagged to start an inning ending DP.
How fitting was it that the Rangers finally get to the World Series, and past the Yankees, by striking out Alex Rodriguez? Fun fact: A-Rod's original 10 year contract would have expired at the end of this year. The Rangers ended his season, but will continue on. Whatcha think about those 24 kids you had to play with now?
There's more I could say, but I'm going to watch a lot of post game coverage, and I'll get to some other stuff on the next few days we don't have games.
Enjoy this.
