Jorge Cantu Agrees to Deal with Padres

Reports tonight say that former Rangers infielder Jorge Cantu will sign a one-year, $850,000 deal with the San Diego Padres.
Cantu was acquired at the 2010 trade deadline to give the Rangers some right handed options at first base and off the bench.  He was a disappointment at the plate, having only one good game when the Rangers clinched the AL West.  Mitch Moreland eventually hit so well against lefties in the playoffs that Cantu became obsolete.

Cantu will play mostly first with the Padres, but may also see time at third and second.
