Thad Bosley Named New Hitting Coach

The Rangers have hired Thad Bosley as their new hitting coach, replacing Clint Hurdle who left to be the manager of the Pirates.  Bosley beat out four or five other candidates (depending on which reports you believe), and will join Ron Washington's staff in 2011.  Washington and Bosley worked together in Oakland, as Bosley was the A's hitting coach from 1999-2003.  Those were the years the A's featured such hitters as Miguel Tejada, Jason Giambi, and Eric Chavez.

Bosley was a candidate for the same position last year before the Rangers ultimately hired Hurdle.  He inherits a team that will consist of MVP Josh Hamilton as well as All-Stars Nelson Cruz, Michael Young, Ian Kinsler, Elvis Andrus.

Maybe Bosley can make himself an even bigger asset to the team by helping Ron Washington get his hair back.  (That's a joke.  Google 'Bosley' if you don't get it.)
