David Murphy Avoids Arbitration

David Murphy and the Rangers avoided arbitration, agreeing to a 2011 contract worth $2.4 million.  Murphy is still under team control through the 2013 season and would be eligible for arbitration again next off season, barring a more substantial agreement covering more years.

Murphy proved to be a big asset to the team in 2010, despite being label as a "4th outfielder."  Murphy got significant playing time due to the injuries of Josh Hamilton and Nelson Cruz, plus Julio Borbon's inconsistency.  He came up with both clutch hits and big plays in the outfield, and he should be a big part of the team again next year, despite going in as the 4th outfielder again.
