Honestly, I had forgotten that there was an Edgar Martinez Award for the Outstanding Designated Hitter, but there is, and the winner for 2010 is Vladimir Guerrero. Vlad adds this honor to his 2010 Silver Slugger Award and A.L. Comeback Player of the Year Award from the Sporting News.
Guerrero beat out David Ortiz, Jim Thome, and Luke Scott for the award. His numbers this year earned him a trip to the All-Star Game, and he had one of the biggest hits for the Rangers in the post-season when the Rangers broke the game open in Game Six of the ALCS, beating the Yankees.
Can't blame Vladdy for looking for a multi-year contract after all of that.
