Game Five ALDS: Road Warriors

Remember when I said after Game One that Cliff Lee was brought here to pitch in Game One?  Well tonight was the little bonus that came in the deal.  Set the tone, slam the door.

I said earlier today that I wanted to see Lee go nine innings to bring home the win tonight, even if it took 140 pitches.  It wasn't quite 140 (somewhere around 120), but he was on the mound when the out #27 was recorded.  He once again dominated the Rays (except for Zobrist, what's up with that?), and quickly took them out of their hitting groove and put them right back in a team slump.

As for the offense, this was Antler day.  The first three runs were all scored by pure hustle.  Andrus, Cruz, and Guerrero touched the plate and left the Rays wondering what had just happened.  Credit Kinsler, too, for beating out the potential double play that allowed Vlad to score from second to make it 3-1.

I'm still so full of excitement, and I want to focus on watching some post game stuff, so I'm going to cut this one a bit short.  Sorry for the halfway coherent language, I'll share some more tomorrow when I've come down from this a little bit.

Believe.
